Research interest

My research work aims to create a bridge between geodynamics and applied mathematics and it is mainly motivated by the belief that studying rigorous formulation of models might provide a lot of information on the physical processes underlying the phenomena occurring on Earth. Thus, I would like to bring together theoretical and numerical problems from diverse disciplines such as geodynamic processes, geophysics, volcanic risk, solid and fluid mechanics framing them in more general mathematical contexts.

I am currently working at European Center for Geodynamics and Seismology (Marie Curie Post-doctoral, AFR Grant 4832278) under the advice of Dr. Nicolas d’Oreye (European Center for Geodynamics and Seismology) and Dr. François Kervyn (Royal Museum for Central Africa, Belgium) in collaboration with J. Ildefonso Díaz (Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain), Tomás Chacón (Universidad de Sevilla, Spain) and Frédéric Hecht (Université Pierre et Marie Curie, France).

I contribute to the development of advanced processing techniques for Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DInSAR) and apply them to study ground deformation in Luxembourg and Africa. Analysis and interpretation of these results are performed in collaboration with international partners (such as the teams of the GeoRisCa BELSPO peer reviewed project) and end-users in Africa (such as the Goma Volcano Observatory) and Luxembourg (such as the Geological Survey of Luxembourg). I am also improving and developing theoretical and numerical models of deformation sources and subsurface processes. And I am performing advanced theoretical and numerical modeling using Finite Element Modeling methods.
